The First Home Owner Grant (FHOG)

The First Home Owner Grant (FHOG) is a one-off payment from the government to encourage and assist first home buyers to build a brand new property as their principal place of residence.

The grant of $10,000 goes towards your house deposit (it does not get paid to you) and helps to reduce the deposit amount required. The grant is paid at settlement or at slab down depending on the lender.

In other words… the government is basically giving you $10,000 to go towards your deposit and help you into your own home sooner! Eligibility criteria applies.
